Rare example of a Heer Sturmgeschütz unterfeldwebel wrap.
This is a super rare combination to find on a wrap due to it having original period applied tress to the collar indicating NCO usage! This is a attribute that is very rarely seen and makes it in this instance a rare combination on a wrap!
The wrap itself is a original service used mid war production example constructed of ’41 era field grey wool. The collar tabs are machine sewn to the collar & are of Artillery Litzen bars on dark green doeskin material bases which are piped in bright red “basket weave” in our opinion probably post war applied. The wraps lining, internal pocket bags, belt hook support straps and tie tape tunnels are of rayon, tie tapes are a grey/green rayon fabric, the interior lining is stamped in purple ink with depot size information and a further black stamp underneath. There is also a name in blue ink above the right interior pocket of: J. Silmanson.
Nice original grey composite buttons as used on most Sturmgeschütz wraps are used profusely on this uniform, at the cuffs, for the lapel and also for the buttoning tabs. The wrap’s body is still in it’s full length and there are four large dark grey coloured composite closure buttons, with the wrap are a nice pair of matching slip on shoulder straps of the same period, Boiled wool type with wool piping and machine sewn metallic NCO tresse.
The subdued woven national emblem is a nice example & originally applied by machine to the right breast, there is no sewing through the lining nor any signs of seams being opened to replace it so it is obvious it is originally period applied, there are a set of original award badge loops to the left breast, the wrap has seen service and has a good bit of wear, the collar hook and eye’s are in place, shoulder straps, national emblem and tress are original and period applied to the wrap.
Overall a great display piece that is in a good size without any major damage or moth!
Given the wrap has NCO tress applied that is a rare feature on wraps, a original eagle & no major damage to the wrap, this is a great example of a original Heer Sturmgeschütz unterfeldwebel wrap!
