An excellent WWII Luftschutz gladiator helmet. Worn by air raid wardens and rescue teams in the Third Reich.
The helmet retains nearly all of the original smooth, semi-gloss finish dark blue paint and the “Luftschutz” winged swastika decal on the front is just visible having been heavily worn off.
The interior of this Luftschutz gladiator helmet is also in excellent condition with the three pad, civil type liner which shows only wear to the tip of 1 finger. The liner is a good size 57cm. The original, integral black leather friction buckle type chin strap is complete and intact. The outer rim of the helmet shows typical edge wear to the paint. The helmet is stamped to the rear interior “RL2 – 38/28” There is also 2 nice original hand painted decals to each side of the helmet 1 being the town name “RECKLINGHAUSEN” and the other a white horse being the symbol for North Rhine-Westphalia.
A nice example of the Luftschutz gladiator helmet.
