Waffen-SS Italian Camo M1943 “Charkow” Winter Uniform Parka with fur lining.
The harsh winter encountered on the Eastern Front in 1941/42 and found the Germans completely unprepared with cold-weather clothing. After the winter of 1941/42, the OKH recognized the need to develop heavy winter clothing and, in the spring of 1942, suitable clothing. The M43 lined winter parka was issued in the middle of 1943 and made with a button-up closure on the front. This camouflage M43 parka Kharkov was made of Italian camo fabrics. Italian cloth became widespread in the middle / end of the war against SS uniforms.
The “Chakrow” parka got it’s name because it was used by SS units fighting in the Kharkov (Kharkiv city) and Donbas area during Operation Fredericus in 1942. The parka featured all construction details – parka Italian camouflage cotton poplin is with a standard pebbled field gray army buttons front closure with an overlapping windbreak and an integral hood, interior of the parka is fully lined with fur and gray viscose liner on the sleeves. Fleece-lined over-sized hood to wear a helmet.
Battle worn very good condition and a good size that will fit easily on standard size busts!
